CSR-CMR Explores Research Collaboration Opportunities with OR-ARBASTRA, BRIN

On May 12, 2026, CSR-CMR, together with the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) at SWCU, held an informal meeting and conversation with Dr. Herry Yogaswara, head of the Research Organization for Archaeology, Language, and Literature (OR-ARBASTRA) at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), which hosts seven research centers, including Pusat Riset Khazanah Keagamaan dan Peradaban (Research Center for Treasure of Religion and Civilization).

The meeting and conversation focused on exploring opportunities for conducting collaborative research and development programs on relevant subjects and themes. More specifically, during the meeting, participants discussed several research funding schemes, including BRN’s core programs, such as Rumah Program (Program House, referring to project center), RIIM (Riset dan Inovasi untuk Indonesia Maju or Research and Innovation for an Advanced Indonesia), PKR (Pusat Riset Kolaborasi or Collaborative Research Center), and PKRI (Pemantauan Keberlanjutan dan Replikasi Inovasi or Monitoring of Innovation Sustainability and Replication). In addition, the meeting discussed DBR (Degree by Research), which was initiated by BRIN in collaboration with several major public universities in Indonesia.

Dr. Herry Yogaswara explained that the PKR scheme must be proposed directly by the applying university, while PKRI is initiated by BRIN. The discussion also highlighted several potential collaborative initiatives, including submitting PKR proposals, developing a Rumah Program collaboration between OR-ARBASTRA and CSR-CMR, preparing a book series, and inviting the Head of BRIN to future academic discussions and forums.

In addition, participants emphasized that RIIM proposals require initial research as a foundation for submission. The initial collaboration is expected to focus on partnerships with BRIN and research on Christian-Muslim relations in Indonesia, from historical and contemporary perspectives.

Yogaswara expressed OR-ARBASTRA’s readiness to facilitate cooperation between his research organization and CSR-CMR. As follow-up actions, CSR-CMR plans to invite the Head of BRIN, organize PKR and RIIM workshops with Yogaswara and his team, and collaborate with CSDS-UKSW in conducting RIIM workshops.

The meeting marked an important step toward strengthening academic collaboration and expanding interdisciplinary research initiatives between UKSW and BRIN. Some key members of CSR-CMR and CSDS attended the meeting, including Sumanto Al Qurtuby (Chairman of CSR-CMR), Titi Susilowati Prabawa, Ph.D. (Chairperson of CSDS), Dr. Suwarto, Dr. Jessy Ismoyo, Linda Susilowati, PhD, and Dr. Purwanti Kusumaningtyas
